Service Description

The Dartmoor adventure will include hiking through the open moorland and valleys of Dartmoor and its surrounding fields and villages on the south-east side. Wild camping, wild swimming, Bronze age settlements and living life! Day 1: Friday 3pm, please shed your work clothes and don the hiking gear for your first night of camping at Michelcombe Farm Campsite, also known as Dartmoor Shepherds Huts. However, no hut comforts for you, you'll be camping 'properly' because it is a chance to ensure your night-time set up works well. Here, you get to enjoy some facilities: hot shower, modern toilet, washing up sinks, drinking water taps. Day 2: Saturday, warm breakfast and coffee will be provided for you, while you are packing up. We will depart at 8AM and track south-west (our first uphill). We'll pass several Bronze Age settlements along our path - option to divert to have a closer look and soak up the prehistoric vibes. Then we continue our path to Red Lake China Clay Works: an early 20th century relic, great lunch spot, and also featuring a lake that might invite some wild swimming. After our break, we explore further south, along the Two Moors way with great views over the surrounding moors and river Erme. We will choose a wildcamping spot in the area near Sharp Tor. Day 3: Sunday, we will wake up our sore limbs and shake off the damp in our clothes for the return journey. Hopefully we’ll catch a nice sunrise! A hike across Hickley Plain brings us on a gentle trail north, along the river Avon. Most of this path, that takes us around the picturesque Avon Dam Reservoir, is dry trail and tarmac. Then, we start making our way back out of Dartmoor, onto the trails of the field and villages on its eastern perimeters, bringing us back to our starting point. On the way, we can meet our refreshment needs in the Holne Shop and take them an easy one-mile walk further north for a wild swim and picnic in the pretty pools and falls of the River Dart where we’ll close the weekend. Included: • Insured and experienced guide • First night camping fees • Friday evening meal • Saturday morning meal NOT included: • Tents and equipment including sleeping bags, bags and mats (please ask if you're short of anything and we maybe able to loan certain items) • Saturday lunch & dinner • Sunday breakfast • Travel to and from start location Michelcombe Farm Campsite / Dartmoor Shepherds Huts, Dartmoor WHAT3WORDS: //////steers.flippers.smirking
